Leeds Aquatics Centre
This prestigious project was a replacement for the famous Leeds International Pool which had neared the end of its useful life.
The facility is situated in the John Charles Centre for Sport and incorporates a 50m x 10 lane pool with a constant depth of 2m and a floating floor and double boom installation, as well as a diving pool with a full range of diving boards to enable teaching to Olympic standard.
The building has become a regional centre of excellence for training in swimming and diving. A unique feature of the project is the incorporation of a dryland training area where divers are taught diving routines suspended in midair over foam filled pits. The Centre was used as a base for the Chinese Olympic team during the 2012 Olympics
