Initial concept designs and visuals were produced for consideration with detailed designs of the preferred concept produced for construction and building control approval. With strict budget constraints we had to be imaginative in both our design ideas and our design specification.

As part of the design we incorporated a mural at the back of the shop of ‘The Birth of Venus’; wearing seasonal SOCKSHOP products. This part of the design can be easily and cost effectively changed to another design depending on the time of year/retail seasons of spring, summer, autumn, Christmas, and gives a playful touch to a world famous and instantly recognisable image which would raise a smile or two and make the shop memorable. High gloss units and reclaimed timber were utilised for the fittings design to create a casual and relaxed juxtaposition.

As a result of their faith in the brand and in the prototype designs’ success, The SOCKSHOP have employed William Saunders as Interior designers to develop variations on the concept design for stand-alone stores based within Tesco superstores in three locations around the country, with a view to more if those prove successful.
