Warehouse and Offices, Alconbury
Alconbury Weald is a major new development on the site of the former RAF Alconbury base near Huntingdon. It creates a new centre for residential and employment uses and is akin to a new town in the scale and the breadth of it’s facilities.
William Saunders were commissioned by Urban and Civic plc to design a new 110,000 sq.ft warehouse, which also incorporated R&D and office uses, for John Adams Toys, a major local employer. The building accommodates high bay warehouse use and has a floor designed to fine tolerances, all carried out in a continuous pour. State of the art loading dock facilities, vehicle hardstanding and a large car park complete the warehouse.
The headquarters offices are highly energy efficient and incorporate air recirculation units and photovoltaic panels. They provide head office accommodation as well as marketing, photography and research and development space.
William Saunders provided architectural, office planning, interior design and structural and civil engineering services for the project.
