New Pavilion – Farndon Cricket Club

26 July 2022

Local to our Newark office, construction is due to start this summer at Farndon Cricket Club on a new pavilion to be completed in readiness for the 2023 season.

William Saunders are providing Architectural, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Principal Designer services for the project.

The new pavilion for Farndon Cricket Club, which is based at the village’s recreation ground off Marsh Lane, will replace the current building and provide two team changing rooms, together with separate changing rooms for umpires, one of which will have dual use as an accessible or minority gender changing room.

It will have a large club room set over two floors with a kitchen, bar and toilets for club events. A large balcony at first floor will provide fantastic views over the ground for spectators. Work will also include a new carpark and public footpath with access onto Fosse Road.

Mark Everington, chairman of Farndon Cricket Club, said that the plans were a huge boost to the village. The new pavilion will be owned by the cricket club but would also be offered to football teams who wish to use the site through the club. “There will be no change in how we plan to run the club,” said Mr. Everington. “We just want to have bigger and better facilities for everybody to benefit from. We are lucky to have retained this site for more than 50 years and we want to continue that.”

Last year, Farndon Cricket Club had 98 juniors on its books across its three teams, All Stars and Dynamos Cricket programme.

The club has four senior sides playing across the South Nottinghamshire League, Newark Alliance League and evening league.
